Basaksehir Medical Complex is the largest medical city in Europe and one of the largest medical facilities around the world. Construction of the medical complex began in 2016, after a tender launched by the Turkish government and won by the Turkish construction giant Rönesans. It is expected that this great cultural edifice will open in April 2020. This complex is located in the Başakşehir district - the cultural pearl of Istanbul - at the junction of many main highways connecting to Istanbul International Airport, next to many metro and tram stations that connect Başak Famous all over Istanbul.
The project is located on a land area of 1,000,000 square meters, consisting of six main buildings equipped with the latest medical technologies and technical equipment. These eight buildings include the main medical specialties, which are expected to provide services to 32,700 patients per day. The complex is equipped with three helipads for medical helicopters.
The hospital has 2,682 beds:
- 469 beds in the general department.
- 327 beds in the Cardiology Department.
- 311 beds dedicated to the Department of Neurology and Orthopedics.
- 521 beds for the children's section.
- 359 beds dedicated to the women's section.
- 367 beds allocated to the Oncology Department. 128 beds for mental illness.
- 200 beds designated for the physiotherapy department and for rehabilitation.
The hospital will provide medical services at the highest levels, and will include a group of doctors and professionals in more than ten specialties such as obstetrics, gynecology, cardiology, neurology, premature babies, radiation therapy and other distinguished specialties. The hospital is also expected to create 9,000 job opportunities and attract international medical talent. In terms of construction, the best standards of safety and security from earthquakes have been adopted. The project is designed to absorb earthquakes and have vibration flexibility of up to 80 centimeters right and left, without causing any negative impact on the building. It is expected that the opening of this medical complex will reflect positively on the Turkish real estate market, which will push the wheel of real estate investment forward throughout the city of Istanbul, and in particular the Basaksehir area, which will raise the level of demand for rent and real estate ownership.
