The Turkish tourism sector is one of the strongest economic sectors in Turkey in all its different forms of summer and winter leisure tourism in addition to medical, commercial and other tourism, which is a great source of income for the country, where Turkey has many factors that make it an important global tourist destination, such as the average strategic location of the country and its charming nature and stunning scenery and development and modern infrastructure of airports, ports and land highways in addition to hotels and beaches, Hospitals, spas, exhibitions and international conferences.
The number of tourists visiting Turkey this year is expected to reach 57 million, an increase of up to 6 million compared to the 51.7 million tourists who came to Turkey in 2019 in 2019.
The president of the Turkish Hotel Union (Sorury Cora Batir) said in a statement to the Turkish media
"There is an increase in the number of tourists coming from the Netherlands. In 2019 there has been a 12% increase and this percentage is expected to increase this year based on the positive results achieved during the International Tourism Fair in Utrecht".
There will also be a significant increase in the number of tourists from Germany, Russia and the UK compared to the numbers that led to Turkey in 2019, based on early bookings made largely this year.
As for Arab tourists, it is known that they make huge profits for the tourism sector in Turkey because of their high level of spending according to their consumption habits. It is worth mentioning that Turkey has become the number one destination for Arabs, the Gulf, North Africa and the Middle East, and they have become the most loyal tourists due to their frequent arrivals in Turkey.
As for Chinese tourists, their number will decrease significantly due to the coronal disease outbreak.
These forecasts and expectations are based on several factors, including:
-
Turkey's strategic location, stunning scenery, charming nature and surrounding seas from the Aegean Sea and Marmara to the Black and Mediterranean Sea
-
Early bookings received by airlines, cruises, various transportation and hotels all suggest a significant increase in tourist numbers this year.
-
In addition, government support attests to this, as tourism in Turkey is supported by the government, especially in the past two years, as well as the experience of the tourism sector and their excellence and knowledge of what attracts tourists and the experience by the tour guides in tourist places, cafes and restaurants whose cuisine competes with international restaurants.
All of this has had a positive impact on tourism in Turkey and increasing the number of arrivals annually.
