Annual increase in rental properties
Last Updated: 2020-07-06The Turkish government officially announced, a few days ago, the amount of the increase in the proportion of rents for the month of August 2019 in Turkey.
This information concerns tenants whose leases expire this month one year after the previous contract was signed.
According to official sources, the increase is 19.91 percent for the next 12 months.
The calculations for rent increases are being made in August 2019 at the average CPI rates rather than the product, according to the Turkish Treasury and Finance Ministry.
An example of this calculation is:
Current rental price: 1000TL
Rate of rise: 19.91%
Price: 199.1TL
Rent increase:1.199.1 TL
However, this figure is the highest ceiling rate that can be applied by the landlord.
In other words, the amount disclosed is the highest rate of increase that can be made and the tenant and landlord can reach a compromise with an increase in rent by a minimum amount not exceeding this rate by mutual agreement.
