Istanbul Canal
Istanbul canal is one of the largest projects of the modern Turkish Republic with the genius of the old Ottoman ambition. The idea of the canal was introduced in the 16th century in the time of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent but was stopped several times for political reasons, the project was re-established in 2009 and the Turkish government aims to reduce the movement of ships in the Bosphorus as well as to reduce the damage caused by ships transporting dangerous materials as well as to remove the random buildings located on the track.
Istanbul Canal Definition:
It is an industrial waterway at sea level and parallel to the Bosphorus connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara and the length of the channel is 43 km and a width ranging from 400 to 500 m and its depth will be 25meters, while its total area will be 26 thousand square hectares.
The Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs has collaborated with a large number of institutions, most notably the Ministries of Environment, Forestry and Water, Food, Agriculture and Livestock, Energy and Natural Resources. Besides the municipality of Istanbul, the Collective Housing Department "Toki" of the Turkish Prime Minister. During the mapping of the canal route, the Ministry of Transport also hired a large number of Turkish and international experts.

New City:

It is planned that the Directorate General of Road Roads will build 10 bridges, including two metro bridges and two railway bridges.
Earthquake and tsunami resistant:
During the preparation of the executive plan, the statistics of wind gusts were taken into account for about 25 years coming, and the storms and deep sea waves in the Black Sea and Marmara were studied, and it was found through the preparation of the initial plan of the project that the canal will not be exposed to any negative effects from the occurrence of any seismic tsunami, and the scheme was designed so that the two banks of the canal are not affected by the waves caused by the passage of ships in the corridor.
Investments:
Turkish economic estimates show that the Istanbul Canal water project to be launched in the next few months will generate significant financial profits for Turkey and according to Turkish statistics, 137 cargo ships and 27 tankers carrying commercial cargo weighing up to 150 million tons will generate about $8 billion a year for Turkey, allowing Turkey to collect $5.5 billion for each ton of cargo and cargo it passes daily.
The cost of the canal is estimated at $12.5 billion and data suggests that the new channel's revenues will cover the project costs in just two years.
