On the sidelines of the climate consultative meeting organized by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change of Turkey in Konya, the Deputy Minister for Industry said they are working to identify policies that will control Turkey's green development and the actions to be taken related to this issue.
He emphasised on the importance of fuel switching in the fight against climate change, noting that the local electric car TOGG is an important step in this regard.
The Deputy Minister for Industry said the local TOGG electric car would be on the market within twelve months.
"We are very excited as the countdown to place the TOGG car on the market has begun as we enter the last twelve months."
The Turkish government views the TOGG local car project as more than just a car manufacturing project, or a launch of a new brand, but rather a pioneering project in the ecosystem transformation of the automotive industry in general.
The TOGG project is a model for green development and represents a serious step towards achieving the reduction of carbon emissions goal, that is necessary to reduce global warming.
Generally, electric cars are spreading rapidly in the world, and after 10 years it is expected half of car sales will be of no-emission electric cars, so Turkey has manufactured the local TOGG car, which was designed from the beginning to be emission-free.
Investments in electric cars and batteries that operate them have received considerable government attention and gained momentum with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Technology.
Since 2018, there have been serious efforts to establish an infrastructure in Turkey for shipping cars, in cooperation between the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority, the Ministry of Industry and Technology and other stakeholders involved.
The Turkish government is now launching a fast-charging infrastructure support program, which aims to provide all Turkish provinces with a fast-charging infrastructure within one year.
In 2018, the Turkish TOGG car project, consisting of five Turkish companies: Anadolu Group, BMC, Turkcell, Zorlu Holding, and Gök Group, was launched.
Where all those companies have equal shares in investment and partnership, along with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), which participates in a symbolic share of about 5 percent.
