Direct foreign investment in Turkey could exceed 30 billion dollars.......
According to the head of the investment office in the Presidency of the Republic Arda Ermut, he said that Turkey attracted 217 billion dollars of foreign direct investment over the past 17 years, adding that this shows the confidence of global investors in the Turkish economy.
Referring at the Tourism Investment Forum (2020) in Istanbul, Ermut noted that Turkey has not received a large enough share of global FDI, which has reached 1% over the past 17 years.
We believe that this share could easily rise to 1.5% in the short extent and 2% in the long extent.
If global FDI has reached 1.5 trillion dollars annually over the past 15-16 years, Turkey's share should exceed 22.5 to 23 billion dollars and reach 30 billion dollars in the long run.
He pointed out that the rise of foreign direct investment in Turkey in 2018 while declining all over the world, this shows the success and excellence of Turkey in moving away from the negative path of the world.
He also emphasized that tourism has stepped up to be among the priority sectors of investment and in the same context he pointed out that Turkey intends to attract 75 million tourists in 2023.
The annual tourism revenues are about 65 billion dollars and Turkey will exceed the targets, he said, explaining that Turkey is in the beginning of a major and strong economic transformation as it will increase economic growth and the inflation rate will fall to a single digit and the current account will not be affected in the short and medium term.
