Cappadocia

Cappadocia, located in the  eastern Anatolian Plateau in central Turkey, is characterized by its special and unique geological environment, as it is the city of rocky peaks. The
volcanic terrain that forms the city's landmarks gives it a magnificent view, whether in summer or winter, and the city also contains passages, caves, andunderground cities dating back hundreds of years.

Origin of the name

Historical books have passed down the reason for naming the city by this name, as it is mentioned that the Persians  called it Cappadocia, and the ancient Greeks called it Cappadocia  to denote the white Syrians, and the Kingdom of Cappadocia and remained in the  era  of Sarabtu an independent state in its own right, and in the Bronze Age it was known as "Khata", and after the fall of the Hittite Empire it became ruled by a feudal aristocratic family.

Transportation

Cappadocia is closely connected to other Turkish cities, and Erkilet International Airport (about 75 km from Göreme) and Nevşehir Cappadocia  Airport (about 40 km from Göreme village) are the nearest airports to Cappadocia. Once you arrive at the airport, you will find a number of taxis and rentable cars, which will take you to the hotel or to the city centre.

Buses can also be used to travel from Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Konya, Antalya and other Turkish cities to Göreme and Nevşehir.

If you intend to travel by land to Cappadocia, you can hire a private car with chauffeur service or a taxi from Istanbul, Ephesus, Antalya, Ankara or Izmir, an interesting and enjoyable trip in which you will be able to witness the charm of the region's nature passing through unique citiesadjacent to
Cappadocia.

The most important historical landmarks  of Cappadocia

The city of gin in Cappadocia

is called Derinkuyu and is distinguished by its unique architecture; it was built entirely underground to protect the population from invasions. The depth of the city is

approximately 200 meters, and it was placed by UNESCO on the World Heritage List, and it is considered one of the modern wonders of the world, this city was discovered in 1963 by chance during some renovation operations in the area and today it has become an important destination for tourists from around the world.

There are many things that distinguish the city of jinn, as it has doors built of stone of large size, and this contributed to closing each floor separately from the other, and it also has the ability to accommodate nearly twenty thousand people to live in it, as well as containing many amenities, where olive presses, horse stables, cellars, storage rooms, dining rooms, and chapels were found, the city also contains spacious rooms on the second floor consisting of it, These rooms were used as a religious school, while the third and fourth levels of them lead to a crusader church, and in terms of engineering and method of construction, the site of their existence is a geological site and they need foundation columns to withstand the layers of the earth, but they did not rely on them, and this is evidence that they were built very carefully, using very accurate building materials, and need an elaborate method in dealing with them.
