The anti-illegal structures launched by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization recently gained momentum, with the closure of 8 construction projects consisting of 1,611 housing units and 4 hotels in Bodrum golf last August, and further demolition work for the same reasons continues in September.
A team of 100 people distributed by the ministry to detect illegal structures has been deployed throughout Muğla state, where luxury villas and hotel projects have been inspected, as well as 3,000 illegal buildings in different parts of the city. The seriousness of the situation of the buildings calls for their total demolition.
According to information provided by ministry officials last year, ministry employees went several times to uncover these structures and concluded in their reports that the municipality should be warned. The official employee said that one part of the 3,200 illegal buildings were demolished despite final deadlines,
"Notices of these illegal buildings have been sent to municipalities and they have been requested to be demolished. However, we believe that the desired result has not been achieved as our colleagues in the field discovered that the municipalities demolished these offending buildings without completely destroying them, which could be allowing for their rebuilding, which will not be allowed by the ministry, and the source pointed out that it will end within one month.
In addition to regional inspections in Marmaris and Fethiye, he said that inspections are under investigation. The company has to make the necessary demolition or arrangement and continue on its way. However, he added that no necessary criminal proceedings would be taken for those who reside the project without the necessary permits.
